Classic Boots #2

Sunday, February 20th, 2005

I know I said it would be weekly but couldn't resist and getting good responses from the first one, so here's another classic a bit early (and there are so many and other people want to post them that it might go several times a week, or daily - but this will be every week, minimum)

Conway - Lisa's Got Hives - classic mashup from 2002 (or was it 2001?) - one of the grandaddies of all those rap/rocks mashups you hear now.

Or check out the Classic Boots board to download the others.

As before, you need to be registered at MutantPop to see the boot (and look at the fancy new colour scheme/theme -I've had a redesign) - it's the least you can do ;-) Also you can register at the mailing list: classic-subscribe@mutantpop.net and get updates sent to you - now how lazy, err easy is that? :-D

Spam? Straight to Hell, boys…

Sunday, February 20th, 2005

Getting a lot of comment spam here - from a nasty bot from a certain online casino. :-(

Hopefully solved it via a cool plugin called Spam Karma - seems to be catching the buggers and sending them to hell - yes it describes automatic deleted spams as being sent to hell. A plugin after my own heart :-)

So if you have WordPress it's highly recommended, slightly technical but easier than most other Comment Spam plugins, but more importantly this works and they don't (apart from Kitten's Spam Words, which I still had to tweak to get work, but that requires me to select the spam if it gets through!)

So don't worry if the system tries to verify it's you by a entering a code - it's just trying to verify you're human and not an evil spambot. :-D

Classic Boot of the Week #1

Friday, February 18th, 2005

Smells Like Teen Booty - Freelance Hellraiser (I think) - 2002. Previously played on Radio Clash, only up for a short time., and is a classic - read more about it at the link.

This will be a weekly or better event - it's my little giftie to those who've registered at MutantPop forum (you can't see the above link without logging in or registering) but you can subscribe to the Classic Boot email update and updates will be delivered to your door (well the link is, anyway).

Zombie Lemons

Thursday, February 17th, 2005

Something went really weird with iPodder lemon tonight...

So picture the scene, connect, load up DVD (Dawn of the Dead, still spooked, prefer the original tho, wish I'd watched Spirited Away my other choice), watch, come back to a root drive with 9Mb....eeek! Zombie harddrive...

So podcasty people think of the poor people who've just bought a DVD-writer to shovel all this stuff (most of it music - you guessed right?) off of an already stressed hard disk...especially if you have like 7x20 or 30Mb files in your feed....:-( from a time when 28Gig was a lot...hell the 'giant' 8gig from previous computer but-one is still in there too. Damn I need a new computer...

I still can't work out why it decided to redownload 2-3 weeks worth of podcasts from 30 feeds tonight....damn weird,

Hey who needs Pod Squad I’m in the Jerk Squad…

Monday, February 14th, 2005

WHYME podcast has put Radio Clash into their wonderfully titled Jerk Squad and said nice things about RC in the latest show, for which despite being slightly embarassed at the attention I'm actually very grateful! Thanks guys & girls (and Funtime Ben for the recommendation :-) ).

Check out the cast, it's a cool mix of art, music and literature...obviously in part Philadelphia-centric (where they are located I think? Sorry if I'm being dumb) but nice to hear recommendations of thought-provoking stuff.

And while we are on the Squad thing, big thanks also to Brian at Coverville to put me in his Coverville Podsquad - everyone should have one, and Coverville has always been in the RadioClash podsquad/listening pool...must sort out links to what I listen to, will do shortly.

Okay end of the mass mutual podsterbation :-P, remember "pod will eat itself" ;-)

Carry on!
