CC mixter - legally mashup people’s tracks!

Thursday, April 28th, 2005

Just found this site: CC mixter run by the people behind Creative Commons, it's a community site where you can share your legal Creative Commons mashups, remixes, acapellas and original tunes...please support it, and did I say there's loads of free samples, tracks, cutups and acapellas on the site that you can legally use? ;-)

The jury's out whether this will take the illegal 'fun' out of mashing, but I predict there will be Creative Commons mashup superstars before long; and there are usually loads of new bands and artists wanting remixes of their work - here's a great way to get a lot of them!

Oh and check out the ODB remix competition with a free acapella from Damon Dash while you're there...

Instamatic and DJNoNo blogs…

Monday, April 11th, 2005

Those of you that wonder what it is I do (I do, frequently) I've setup new Artist blog sites which will include ssme of my old and new bootlegs/mashups/call em what you will (usually 'crap' comes to mind...) amongst other people who have much better skills than I. But it'll replace the old Instamatic fuddy-duddy HTML site (pah! I do not want your ancient technology!)

You can find the Instamatic blog at: http://www.mutantpop.net/artists/instamatic/ The tunes will be back very shortly, and I'll do one for my tbc 'downbeat' bottlegging guise too.

And DJNoNo too now has a homesite/blog or as he calls it 'Cr1b', http://www.mutantpop.net/artists/djnono/. You can go and find out what all the Accordion references on Radio Clash are about....;-)

Eventually I'll open up the Mutantpop Artists blogs to any mashup/music artist who want a Wordpress blog - such as want to podcast but without the hassle...PLUS: you can see all the MutantPop artist posts aggregated here: http://www.mutantpop.net/artists/ which is really cool...and yes they all have individual RSS feeds so subscribe away! Mashups delivered directly to your door, err, drive, that's the future *I* envisage...

All this brought to you courtesy of the incredible! the fantastic! the free! Wordpress 1.5 and Pytan's great MultiBlogHack. It's very alpha (hence it not open to others yet) but very exciting!

DJN0N0’s Stripper Jackson released

Monday, April 11th, 2005

Firstly got a great reaction off the Stripper Jackson track I played a couple of shows ago, and DJNoNo has let me know that it's now released, well that's not exactly what he said he said:

"arrr m8eys, gr8 2 c the r3sp0ns3 of homiez g3ttin' d0wn with my nu stogeez, mah nu b4ngin' ch00nz. Gr8, m8s and c u s00n!"

No, I don't understand it either...

Here's Stripper Jackson(Joe Loss 'The Stripper' vs Michael Jackson 'The Way You make Me Feel') . Kind of sickly sweet, and well, sick in a hands-down-the-pants kind of way. What disgusted me more was there actually WAS a Thriller computer game tie-in. Ugh.
