iTunes with Podcasting ’support’ launches

In case you've been in a black hole, iTunes 4.9 with podcasting 'support' has just launched (Prior warning & PDF link from scripting.com).

Interestingly music or music-based shows are not one of the 8 categories in the PDF specs documents...and all those extra itunes:RSS tags duplicating what's in the ID3 tag (Artists. Title etc)? What gives?

I wonder how long before someone does an iTunes RSS Plugin for Wordpress?

Ouch.

Can I assume you guys already submitted Radio Clash to iTMS's podcast directory or are you waiting for an appropriate WordPress plugin? Radio Clash is AMAZING and I'd love to have it on this new system.

I'd love to be listed - who wouldn't? But in the meantime you can add the feed manually under 'Advanced' - let me know if you have problems (*see note below)

But Apple have only released today a load of specs that you need to conform to - including feed art of a certain size (it's already there in the MP3 but I need to add it as a link in the feed) and work out a way of adding the itunes song info...in a way that doesn't end up with extra work. A WP plugin would make life easier -

    * Apparently it doesn't support RSS feeds that don't end in .xml too, like all Wordpress blogs end in .php, or redirects...! :-O

    It's early days...

Certainly with prior warning and consultation I'd be there on da one, but Apple didn't beta with the podcasting community as a whole so you'll find a lot of shows not on there yet...asking people to add a load of stuff to their feed is not going to make friends in some quarters also...or some non-tech ppl using blogs just won't be able to.

actually looking at the TOS and the Copyright Restrictions I doubt even though it's not on their servers that Apple would allow Radio Clash into the iTMS - too many legal issues. Sadly.

But it works great if you subscribe via iTunes (although you only get the latest show it downloads immediately!) :-D

Too bad about the standards conformance (only .xml? What?!) and the inevitable Copyright Restrictions, but thanks for the heads up of being able to subscribe manually! The only real reason why I'd want to see you guys in the Podcast Directory is so you can easily get more listeners and keep this podcast a rockin'. I'll just have to let my friends know and hope word of mouth does the rest.

One of my new life's goals is to be one of the first to be publicly kicked off the Itunes Directory for violating the DMCA or any copyright law in general.
One of the main reasons I think the directory sucks ass, is that RadioClash isnt there. I didnt submit my show.. it was just there.. who knows why.. but whomever was loading shows onto there... its rediculous that they failed to include you.
