Back in November I played Bastard @ the Asylum in London with Fondue Meltdown and never got round to posting the pics - see me DJ and make an arse of myself here. http://www.flickr.com/photos/timbearcub/sets/72057594118522526/

WOB-Nov05-0024Also a couple days later went down to West Of Bastard where E-Jitz (Richie Deluxe and Dunproofin), Angus Herring and the Pilchard guys were playing. They are also up now.

totally g33koid request…

Wednesday, April 26th, 2006

Just wondering  -those of a g33ky p3rsu410n, is there an easy way to backup a MySQL database automatically - ie. not me doing it manually, and emailing or FTPing the files to me?

Or at minimum on the same webspace, but off-server would be better.

I guess it's a 'CRON job' (and yes I can run those, so get scripts to run automagically) but scared I could do some damage not knowing what I'm doing...not knowing any CGI/Perl type gubbins, or how to set up CRON properly.
Not seen much simple guides about this, and would prefer a tested script...

UK Britcaster / Podshow meetup

Tim and Kirk at the meetup - photo by Scott
Kirk [L] and Tim [R] at the meetup (thanks to Scott for the pic)

I was intrigued by this Podshow UK meetup with Adam Curry so I went along; I know long-term listeners will know my views on Adam and Podshow, but I wanted to hear what he had to say for himself, and meet some Uk podcasters too.

I dragged Kirk along, and met up with Scott from the Night Nurse Show. We met Adam Curry (actually a nice bloke, much taller in real life!)...we talked about commercialism in podcasting (surprise! EDIT: I think this is the outside conversation he mentioned in DSC #373) with which I disagreed his stance, and pointed out he couldn't sell Radio Clash (he hadn't heard of RC apparently) and I asked him why he stopped playing mashups and why did he say they were a fad ;-) Also talked about the whole recent Madge 'faggot' issue, and about Guildford with me and Kirk - we're both from there so know the area well.

Also had general jabberingness and met various people including Adrian Pegg, MK from Not Your Usual Bollocks (finally we meet!), Brian of Comedy 365 (who Adrian and a few others thought was me!), many Podcasters called Paul including briefly Podcastpaul, and various other ppl.

Apologies if I missed you, many faces there, I didn't recognise many of the podcasts or podcastees...

More detail and analysis on my LJ blog, and other ppls pics of our drunkeness and outrage hopefully to follow (I should have taken my camera, as it was I did some 'secret' photos on Scotts camera but I didn'rt want to be 'on duty' so to speak). All in all, pretty good if a bit more g33ki3r and a straighter venue than I feel comfortable in - we eventually left for the King's Arms.
