Happy XMash & A Kodiak Moment New Year

Part of a series called ‘let’s make the life hard of those who finished their festive mashup compilations in October’, – finally live, the Xmash compilation new and old Christmas Classics in ‘high’ quality – well we are in part talking DJNoNo here so quality is extremely subjective – but two new mashups from me, including one that has only just been finished and not previously released – the Massive Attack vs Greg Lake one.

Yes I made Massive Attack’s Teardrop simultaneously upbeat and festive and more depressing…how strange the change from major to minor. It is very much a Lockdown Xmas Coronacoaster bittersweet track…

Some old classics and two new mashups now in high quality in a single downloadable package! From bah humbug mashups and downtempo chilled dubby ambient mixes to upbeat drum and bass and party tunes, to a set of covers by TBC Poundsystem – and there even is a Secret Santa gift if you download the whole album!

Have a Happy Christmas and New Year in lockdown, and be as safe as possible…it is going to be a weird one, and this one goes out to those who have a love/hate thing with this time of year. I see you – and even better I have warped festive tunes for you!

Demis Roussos – Midnight Is The Time I Need You (fingertrouble’s Psychodelidisco mix)

Demis Roussos – Midnight Is The Time I Need You (fingertrouble’s Psychodelidisco mix)

This is a real Friday/Saturday jam, my remix of the long-forgotten Demis Roussos (sadly we lost him last year) classic from 1975, ‘Midnight Is The Time I Need You’.

When I heard this tune as with the Midnight Stud I not only fell in love with a dusty disco classic, I thought it needed to be longer as it was only ever a 7″ length track, more DJ-friendly, warped to the beat, remastered and general shininess added.

I listened to all the re-edits out there and found them good but a bit lacking…this indeed started as a re-edit, but I just kept adding stuff, so it’s the most remix-y remix I’ve done (usually I try and be more like edits, fairly transparent in what I add, mostly about structure and drums/bass)

You can download this and other Psychodelidisco mixes on my Bandcamp.

The man there said the music wouldn’t play

Time to delete, time to forget, nothing to see here.

No, not been hacked, but after 12 years decided to shut up shop, and remove all my mashups – partly because of Soundcloud, but it’s time, burnt out and tired of the shit, and want to move on. Might be back, might go the way of the podcast…gone forever. Same applies to my YouTube and Vimeo channel – video mashups for others stay but mine are gone everywhere else, only left the few mashups for album compilations since gaps there would look odd!

Mashups – nagiutb, 2015 RIP.

I know for a fact quite a few people in the original bootleg scene won’t shed a tear (still happy to use my photographs, or get free camera or graphics work…well good luck with that now!). Ah well, fuck them. As Radiohead put it so well ‘But who are my real friends? Have they all got the bends?’ – the ones who are my real friends, know who they are or I’m still talking to. The fake ones who gave the O’Jays song it’s name are all Ctrl-Alt-Delete from my life, far too toxic.

You don’t want to know, just keep believing the mashup world was warm and cuddly and nice, it looked so on the outside, in fact those inside took so many pains to make it look so.

See you around.

Tim
