Captain Obvious – Only 80s Ghosts Again (Yazoo vs Depeche Mode)

Ahh the ‘OOK* 80’s Bootlegs’ that Sowndhaus is apparently famous for!

Everyone is making Ghosts Again mashups, so thought I’d have a go. Yes this is so obvious it’s Captain Obvious, but I’ve never made a Yazoo mashup so neh.

And it’s an era mashup, indie 80’s versus modern 80’s corporate-ish pop (DM are on Columbia AND Mute, it’s confusing). so I’ll put it into this week’s Indie vs Mainstream Crumplbanger Challenge.

And of course, there is ahistorical link via Vince Clark who used to be in DM at the start. GIven the new DM song is about Fletch, it makes sense to go back in time and I wanted that ghostly 80’s sound so put the synths back in with echoes. It’s a total Gen X 80’s throwback mashup on mortality… Layers upon layers, that’s how I roll creatively.

Tried to go for a ghostly 80’s feel on this and the artwork. Thanks A1, sorry AI!

(*it’s not I think OOK btw, but who cares about this ‘boomer’ shit amirite? )
