Radio Clash 129: 303:20

Do you like my tribute to Acid House covers? And can you spot all the hidden smileys?

It’s been over 20 years since the introduction of that little silver box and the squiggly bassline and so here’s a show dedicated to acid house and it’s influences, myself included.

Big thanks for AudioOut blog for inspiring this trip down memory lane (about 128K), and Mr Spoons for directing me to it.

I’ll translate from Robinese for ya:

“yes, I remembered playing with one a uni that was lent to us. what a small little mirical and so easy to play with. swisting taht resonace knob like you were jimmy hendrix.”

A lad called Joe who lived 2 floors up from Robster at Uni lent us a 303, 808, 909 and Juno-6. We had it for over a year, and what a year that was. I still have some, er, heavy acid jams that we did with it, including a gig at Morecambe Arena.

It was a bugger to programme with any kind of intent so it was usually a case of fuck about with it and see what happens… i have some polaroids somewhere back at the folks which i’ll try and scan.

The software version of the 303 (Phosycon?) by D16 is top – 😉
