Adriana A of Bootie had a set at a Cyberpunk festival (Neotropolis) and challenged everyone to make cyberpunk mashups…Now mine were way too slow and moody to get on the mixtape (I think you had to have a name starting with A to get on it :-P), but I think the post-apocalyptic combination of Boards of Canada vs The Animals and the moody not-drum-and-bass of Buunshin meeting Everything But The Girl are worth a listen anyway.
This was also done for the instrumental Crumplbangers Challenge – like all my BoC tracks they seem to be regarded about as well as a turd plopping in someone’s drink, so I debated whether to post it.
But given cyberpunk is the current thing, I thought I’d post this futuristic dystopian moodymash, taking The Animals ‘House of the Rising Sun’ and mixing it with Cold Earth from Tomorrow’s Harvest.

This mashup is basically WWAD – ‘What Would Aggro1 Do?’
I’m not sure what genre you define this as, because usually Buunshin is a drum and bass producer, but this is a 130bpm-ish wubby distorted synthwavey dubstep? (but dubstep is always 140bpm+) radiophonic track from him which definitely sounds very retrofuturist sci-fi – more Doctor Who than brostep.
And I paired it with EBTG’s Wrong. Hopefully it qualifies. (Tranen means weep in dutch, so quite goth!).
