I wasn’t planning to make a Xmash mash this year – but this combo fell in my lap, and as far as I know, it’s not been done? It almost became a Captain Obvious track because of that – also the moving (and really sad) Fast Car is having a moment via Luke Combs’ cover, so it’s the best time for this.
Continuing the MoodyMas theme of last year, here’s Tracy Chapman’s Fast Car with Chris Rea’s Driving Home For Christmas – a collision of moods and also as always, the bittersweet nature of Xmas. People wanting to escape, anywhere from being trapped with relatives vs being away from those you love, it’s the opposite end of the same spectrum.
Longing and escape, that’s Xmas to me! #sofestive.
