Fifty Fifty vs Bangles & Miriam Makeba vs Moroder

From South Africa to South Korea, here’s a global selection of mashups from Captain Obvious and Instamatic using tracks from Fifty Fifty, Miriam Makeba, Giorgio Moroder & Phil Oakey & The Bangles. And a shedload of 80’s – yeah even more 80’s Boomer shit!

First up is a track by Captain Obvious unusually not for a challenge.

I don’t usually like K-Pop but I love the new-ish song from Fifty Fifty – Cupid, and surprised I couldn’t find any mashes of it here – so I paired it with The Bangles – Manic Monday, so you now have K-Jangle-Pop!

Created for the latest Crumplbanger Challenge, ToTom wanted us to use a foreign language track that was completely foreign to him (so no Spanish, French or English) so I had to use Miriam Makeba’s classic Pata Pata which is mostly in Xhosa, one of the most joyful songs ever and mixed it with another really joyful track, Together In Electric Dreams.

This is the full version, the challenge version removes the minor English spoken bits, which weren’t in the original South African Skylarks version of Pata Pata, they were added for the 1967 re-release which was an international hit – and became a standard.
