“From the moment I could talk, I was ordered to listen….If they were right, I’d agree. But it’s them they know, not me”

I was looking for mashups of Ghosts by The Presets – one of my favourite songs, and was surprised to find almost none. So I made this to play on the podcast, but like many of my mashups, I realised what it was about while I was making it. I am glad it didn’t turn out to be a proxy-Halloween track I was dreading, and instead became a personal track I needed to make. Sorry / Not Sorry.

Ghosts is very much a paean to ageing, so thare’s that, and makes me think of the Asylum/Bastard and all that scene that’s long gone, it’s very wistful.

And Father & Son is obvious, but there are many layers to this, literal stuff yes (for instance that IS the ‘ghosts of my father’, that’s Great Great Grand Uncle Robert on my Dad’s side as the artwork) but buried is other meanings for me as well.

Most of my work has a double meaning – a public one, and a private personal one, or ones. it’s how you seem very open, yet hide your shit in plain sight and no-one sees it 😉
